How can I justify a high similarity score of my thesis iThenticate report if it includes content from my own published work (e.g. self-plagiarism)?
Answer
If your thesis iThenticate similarity report exceeds the accepted threshold (e.g., 20%) due to overlap with your own previously published work, please provide a justification in the ETD form as follows:
-
State the total similarity percentage, and clarify that the higher score is due to the inclusion of your own published research papers, which are incorporated as part of your thesis chapters.
-
List the full citations and URLs of the relevant published works.

-

Confirmed that the reused content is self-authored and properly cited within the thesis.
